My Winter Skin Saviour; the Aveeno Fresh Essentials Line

The winter is always very long and harsh on my dry skin. I am constantly on the hunt for the moisturizer, whether that be for morning or night. I find that most moisturizers are just okay, but nothing to write home about. A few weeks ago a PR company reached out to me and sent me the Aveeno Fresh Essentials Line for consideration. I have pretty sensitive skin so I have always enjoyed Aveeno products. They have gotten me through a few rough patches, literally (I am hysterical, I know). I have been using these products for the last 2 and a half weeks and my skin is feeling so nourished and hydrated!

The Fresh Essentials line contains the Daily Nourishing Moisturizer with SPF 30, the Hydrating Night Cream and Daily Exfoliating Scrub. All of these products are chalked full of vitamins and include Active Naturals® Southernwood, which is an anti-oxidant. It ensures that these products lock in moisture and vitamins while keeping toxins out of your skin.
I use the Daily Nourishing Moisturizer ($16.97-$19.99 CAN) every morning after I cleanse my face. The packaging is gorgeous and it comes with a pump (Hallelujah!). The pump dispenses enough product for 2 or more applications so I just end up using about half a pump. The pump is very easy to control so this isn't difficult to do. As with all of the products in this line, they are heavily scented. The scent is beautiful. It smells fruity and fresh, but if scent is something you don't appreciate in your skin care, this won't be for you. Normally I am not a fan of scented skincare products but these products perform so well I can live with the scent. This is one of the most moisturizing day creams I have used. It sinks into your skin so quickly and leaves your skin feeling plump and ready for makeup application. I love it. I find a lot of moisturizers to be either too runny or too thick for the day time. This one is just right.

In my mind, the Hydrating Night Cream ($16.97-$19.99 CAN) is the star of the show. I am always so indifferent when it comes to night creams, but not this one. When I apply this cream I wake up to skin that feels so hydrated and soft that I do not believe it is my own. This is more of a gel-cream consistency. It goes on smooth and sinks into your skin almost immediately. I personally have been enjoying mixing this with the Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate. I mix a pea-sized amount of the Hydrating Night Cream along with three drops of the Khiel's Midnight Recovery Concentrate into my hands and then apply it directly to my face. If you are on a budget, try Baby Oil. It does basically the same thing at a fraction of the price. It just ups the moisture levels a little bit to really soothe your skin for the winter months.
Daily Exfoliating Scrub, Daily Nourishing Moisturizer and Hydrating Night Cream swatched
The Daily Exfoliating Scrub ($9.97-$12.99 CAN) is probably the most gentle scrub I have ever used. The micro-beads are very tiny and delicate on the skin. They are actually made from natural luffa and coconut pulp. Although it is gentle, it still has enough exfoliating properties to do the job it was made for. I really enjoy using this one when I shower. It is the perfect gentle exfoliant. It sloughs off dry skin without being too harsh. It is fantastic for the winter months and is easily gentle enough to use daily.

The only negative aspect of any of these products is the scent. It is very overpowering, especially with the moisturizers in this line. I really hate overly perfumed products but the scent doesn't linger too long so I will look past that aspect for these products because they are so fantastic. If you struggle with dry skin and just haven't been able to find anything that is moisturizing enough for you, this is what you have been waiting for. If you can only try one thing I would absolutely recommend the Hydrating Night Cream. It has changed my skin.
